About Midway

Welcome to Midway, Utah
Midway Real Estate

The Swiss City of Midway, Utah is located in Wasatch County.   Midway real estate is the perfect place for citizens, civic leaders and businesses to partner in building a city that is family-oriented, visitor-friendly, safe, pleasing and walkable.  Like several other Utah cities, Midway is proud of its Swiss ancestry.  Midway real estate is part of a community that proudly enhances its town with Swiss character and a natural environment, making it Utah's piece of Switzerland.  Architectural details of the Swiss can be found in almost every city's residences and commercial buildings.  Midway celebrates its Swiss heritage each September, attracting over 80,000 visitors.

Lovely homes are available in Midway as well as vacant lots of land.  Home prices range from the mid-$100s to the low $300s.

History of Midway
Midway real estate started as a village after the Ute Indians started raiding settlements in the 1860s.  Mormon leaders decided it would be best for those living along Snake Creek  to band together for protection.  Neither of the Snake Creek villages wanted to move, so they both moved to a midway point, hence the name Midway, and built a fort.  More and more Swiss settlers began to settle in Midway by the 1880s, many of which chose the area because the mountainous terrain reminded them of the Swiss Alps.  Several others came from the missionaries that were returning from Switzerland that brought converts and friends with them.

The 2002 Olympic bi-athlon and cross-country events were held at Solider Hollow.   Midway is also known for the large hot-pot, a part of the Homestead Resort and golf course, which hosts scuba diving year-round.  The water of the hot-pot fluctuates between 90o and 95o F.

Education in Midway
The Wasatch County School District provides quality public education for students in Midway real estate.  The district believes in helping each student develop their fullest potential by thoroughly teaching the fundamental skills of mathematics, writing and reading.  This helps students think clearly and independently to prepare them for the responsibilities of tomorrow's society.  There is one elementary school and one charter school operating in Midway at this time.

Things to Do in Midway
Midway real estate is home to one of the West's premier golf destinations, the Homestead Resort and the Wasatch Mountain State Park.  The Midway Shortline Railroad is located just outside the park boundaries and offers children a ride on a miniature steam engine during the summer months.  Other parks in Midway offer plenty of fun, too.  Many of these parks have amenities such as playgrounds, open space, ball fields, ball courts, wetlands, hiking trails, shelters, picnic areas, skate parks and recreation centers.

There are also shopping areas and several restaurants to visit.  Midway real estate offers plenty of activities indoor and out.  And, there is always a friendly face around every corner.

Real Estate Tips
Investment Real Estate >Your Own Dormitory

Your child has just been accepted to a university. When you look at the room and board fees, you nearly go into shock! If the school is located in a large metropolitan area, there is an interesting alternative to the college dormitory.

Many parents are investing in condominiums or single family homes near the college campus. They rent the house to their children and one or more roommates. When their son or daughter graduates, they sell the property. The property's anticipated appreciation may go a long way toward helping to finance college expenses.

Many parents sit down with a local real estate agent after their son or daughter is accepted to a college. A real estate agent can provide information about neighborhoods near the school, properties that are for sale, and the amount of rent you can expect to receive from the property.
