Founders and History of Herriman
The area was once home to Native American Indians until 1851, when William Charles Crump came to the area to settle. Crump was born in England in 1830. He came to America in 1852 and joined the Abraham Smoot Company. Crump was first assigned to Taylorsville to build a settlement there, then he served as a guard on the south and west sides of the valley. Brigham Young then sent Crump and other families to Herriman to build a settlement. The community has continued to grow and thrive with a strong economy. Herriman real estate was officially incorporated in June 1999.
